Our board structure

National Leadership Group Chair

The Alternative Learning Initiative Group Network is recruiting for a passionate and forward-looking Chair for its National Leadership Group.

The opportunity:

This is a unique voluntary opportunity for a senior professional working in, or for, the Non-School Alternative Provision (NSAP) sector. The Chair of the National Leadership Group will guide and contribute to the national strategic and operational development of ALIGN, the only non-fee paying membership organisation for NSAP in the UK.

The publication of the education White Paper: Every child achieving and thriving and the SEND Reforms consultation: Putting children and young people first, present Non-school AP with complex new challenges. This is an important juncture at which to join ALIGN.

Our members provide vital, bespoke education for children and young people who struggle to thrive in traditional classroom settings. As Chair, you will be the primary proponent of this unique sector, ensuring our members are recognised as high- quality, safe, and essential partners within the local education landscape.

The person:

The person we are looking for will be highly experienced in leading or running a non-school Alternative Provision (e.g. founder, director, senior leader) – with all the skills and expertise this brings; they will also be able to lead the work of a
national board and to advocate publicly for the sector with confidence.

Location:

National scope with meetings online

Remuneration:

This is an unpaid voluntary role

Commitment:

You will need to commit to leading ALIGN National Leadership group meetings, usually 1.50 hours long which take place up to 5 times a year and to holding to account leadership group members who will complete tasks assigned to them. You will need to be able to provide one relevant written resource and/or one hour of training to ALIGN members in your field of expertise per year.

You will need to have ongoing national engagement with and implementation of activities on behalf of ALIGN. You will be accountable to the ALIGN Executive Leadership Board.

The opportunity:

Are you interested in helping to steer the only free-to- join representative group in the UK for Non-school Alternative Provision?

ALIGN members provide vital, bespoke education for children and young people who struggle to thrive in traditional classroom settings. As a member of the ALIGN National Leadership Group you will contribute to growing the ALIGN network as ‘the voice of the NSAP sector’ and to developing the support it provides.

The person:

New National Leadership Group members will be leaders with significant experience in non-school alternative provision and a solid understanding of the evolving national picture in AP. They will be able to make a commitment to attending 5 online meetings a year; writing one relevant blog a year for the ALIGN website and ongoing support of ALIGN events.

Regional Leadership Group Chair

The opportunity:

This is a unique voluntary opportunity for senior professionals working in, or for, the Non-School Alternative Provision (NSAP) sector. The Chair of each Regional Leadership Group will guide and contribute to the national strategic and operational development of ALIGN, the only non-fee paying membership organisation for NSAP in the UK.
